3 New Projects. First Year of MFA Fine Arts program at SVA in NYC. 2018 – 2019
1.“The ride of desire” an artwork by Kostas Lales , 2019
“The Ride of Desire” is a sculpture inspired by a dream of mine. The sculpture surrounds my portrait with fertility organs. I want the viewer to travel within the dream transitions of my brain during the night. This movement from the world of reason to the world of dreams creates a surreal form. The work is an attempt to capture the energy behind my thinking, an image that has been transformed into a memory, and a moment that is forever engraved in my experience.
2. “Family Hair Pin” an artwork by Kostas Lales , 2018
This hairpin show us the union of the family and how one member communicates with the others. During this work I wanted to understand how a real hairpin connects with the hair and how a hairpin holds the hair together.These geometric figures and the repetition that there is in this piece narrates the dynamic of the family.”Each one to support the personality of the other” is the most important priority of my family. We come together not by following the decisions of one person but by arguing and understanding each other.Of course our connection is mostly based in an atmosphere that combains of anger, empathy, irony and wit.
3. “Building Walker” an artwork by Kostas Lales , 2019
The main idea is how can I connect with the city. I found a spot where there was smoke coming from the ground and I want to see how can I communicate with this situation. I will make a hat and I will put smoke in it and then it will go out of me because I want everyone to see how everybody live in this city. Generally, in every big city. Actually the smoke symbolize the thoughts that everyone have, the time, how clear the atmosphere is and how to build my body or myself in this city.
